Abstract

1,169,319. Two-part couplings. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 July, 1968, No. 34944/68. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] Power is tapped from bus-bars 14, 15 in a distribution track 10 by an adaptor 30 having contacts 44, 45 which may be moved to engage the bars 14, 15 when the adaptor 30 is clamped to the conduit by means of movable tongues 36, 37 engaging ledges 22, 23. The tongues 36, 37, of spring steel, are forced apart by a screw 33 passing through 36 and abutting 37. The contacts 44, 45 are mounted on arms 48, 49 which are biased together by a spring 54 and may be moved apart, scissor-like, by a cam 55, which may be operable by a cord 58, and for which locking notches 52<SP>1</SP> are provided. An earthing contact 64 and perhaps a fuse holder 63 are provided. So that the tapped voltage has the correct polarity, adaptor 30 has an asymmetrical cross-section similar to that of the track 10.
