Abstract

498,476. Resilient mountings. AUERBACH, H. T. July 6, 1937, No. 18780. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XV] The wheel axles 19, 36 each fit in a metal sleeve 50 having a ball projection 51 engaging in an annular recess in a rubber sleeve 49 housed under compression in a metal sleeve 47 spot-welded to collars 30, 44 on brackets 20, 21 and 37, 38 at the rear and front of the skate respectively. The end portions of the sleeve 49 are flared to allow the sleeve 50 to have a swinging movement about the projection 51. The projection 51 could be provided on the wheel axle. In a modification the' annular recess is formed in the wheel axle and an annular projection on the rubber sleeve 49. The brackets 20, 21 and 37, 38 are provided with pressed-out strengthening ribs 26 and 42 respectively, and are connected by an extension bar 53 held in position by a bolt 54 passing through overlapping lugs 27, 28 in the brackets 20, 21 and a slot 55 in the extension bar 53, and by a bolt 54 passing through overlapping lugs 45, 46 in the brackets 37, 38 and a slot 56 in the extension bar 53. Front clamps 57 are mounted in slideways in the toe-plate 32, downwardly extending portions 60 of the clamps being connected by an adjusting screw 61.
