[Class 135] A non-return valve of the hinged-flap type comprises a valve member c which is carried by a supporting arm b<1> pivoted at a. The valve member is secured to the arm by a spindle c<2> to allow a certain amount of relative movement to ensure proper seating of the valve and a spring f is arranged between these two parts to take up the play and prevent the valve member " chattering " when in the open position. Abutments b<3> and c3 are provided on the arm and valve member respectively where they contact. The arm b<1> is secured to a shaft a which is mounted in bearings in lugs i formed on a detachable cover plate j. In a modified arrangement two separate flaps are provided, each valve member being secured to two supporting arms pivotally mounted on the main casing.
