Storm valves.-The valve 2, which is faced with a leather disc 1, instead of being rigidly carried by the pivot 8 is pivotally or loosely mounted at 5 in a cranked lever 3<a>, fitted with a balance weight 4, and carried by the main pivot 8. The pin 8 may be carried by a detachable valve seat fitted at 3, if desired, and the balance weight may be arranged to work in a removable side pocket 14 fitted with a screwed spindle 10, which engages a lug 9 formed on the balance weight, for positively closing the valve. A projecting rib or flatter curvature may be formed on the weighted end of the lever to limit the valve travel, and the spindle 10 may be fitted with an extension spindle, if desired.
