Abstract

497,018. Discharge apparatus. FERNSEH AKT.-GES. June 10, 1937, No. 16082. Convention date, June 17, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] A double-sided mosaic electrode comprises an insulating sheet. provided with apertures each of which is covered with a discrete conducting laminar element. The apertures in a mica or glass foil may be produced by punching or etching or by directing a blast of air, loaded with powdered material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Carborundum," against the foil 1 through a net 2. A metal coating 3 may be provided before the apertures are formed. A collodion layer 6 is then deposited and the elements 5 are formed by evaporating nickel through the mesh 2. Silver may then be deposited on the elements through the mesh and subsequently oxidized and coated with caesium. The collodion layer may be dissolved in acetone. In a modification, the metal layer may be dispensed with, the net 2 being placed on the back of the electrode. The net 2 and the electrode may be held against a suitable surface during manufacture.
