Abstract

496,363. Flash - light lamps. SCHWARZE, P. March 21, 1938, No. 8558. Convention date, April 17, 1937. [Class 9 (ii)] Photographic flashlights of the type which produce light by reaction of suitable substances enclosed in gastight vessels have their lighting effect intensified by the combination therewith of one or more optical lenses. As shown in Fig. 1, the flashlamp 1 comprises a metal box 2 which is closed by a window 3 and is filled with oxidizable foils, or wires or the like and with oxygen gas. A frame 5 carrying a condenser lens 4 is secured to the box 2 by springy stirrups 6. Instead of a condenser lens, a similarly acting combination of two or more lenses may be used. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which a container 7, adapted to receive a gastight box-shaped flashlight lamp, is provided with a window 3 in front of which is arranged the lens 4. If desired, the window 3 may be omitted. The container is provided with a handle 8 which can be adapted for holding a battery for the ignition. Lenses, preferably of different focal length, may be arranged on both sides of the container for use at different ranges. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also arrangements in which the top part of the handle 8 instead of the container 7 is adapted to support the flashlight lamp and in which the container 7 is enlarged so as to be capable of receiving bulb-shaped flashlights. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
