[Class 117] A machine for sifting and mixing flour and other granular material comprises a sieve drum 4 mounted between end frames 1, Fig. 1, a shaft 2 mounted in bearings 8 adapted to be withdrawn laterally through slots 7 in the end frames, and a mixer member or members comprising a bush 5 mounted on the shaft and carrying three diverging arms 6 connected at their free ends by bars 6a, Fig. 3. One of the bars 6a is preferably curved to the curvature of the drum and the other straight and shorter. Both may be fitted with brushes and means may be provided to compensate for wear of the brushes. As shown in Fig. 1, the drum 4 consists of sieve material stretched over a frame comprising end members 13 and stretchers 12, which normally rest on supports 16. Transverse shafts 10 with cams 11 are adjusted by arms 14 and set screws 15 to vary the position of the sieve relatively to the shaft 2 and arms 6. In a modification, the supports 16 are moved by a rack-and-pinion mechanism. The shaft bearings 8 are carried by plates which when bolted in position close the slots 7.
