495,452. Purifying water. ENTREPRISE GENERATE DE CHAUFFAGE INDUSTRIEL PILLARD FRERES & CIE. May 14, 1937, No. 13632. Convention date, May 14, 1936. [Class 46] Water is chemically treated and heated in the same vessel under pressure and at a constant temperature higher than 100‹ C. The water is supplied to the heating vessel 3 by a pump 1 through a heat-exchanger 2 and valve 14. Chemical is supplied to the vessel through a pipe 17 and superheated steam from a pipe 12 is bubbled through the water. The treated water passes away through a filter 6 and the heat-exchanger. The valve 14 closes when a given maximum pressure is attained in the vessel 3. The supply of steam is governed by a valve 13 controlled by a float 4 in an auxiliary chamber communicating with the vessel 3. An automatic vent valve 5 for air and gases is provided. A definite proportion of the treated water is passed through a pipe 16 to a vessel 15 and operates a divided tipping-bucket 7 which drives a pump 8 to raise water from the vessel 15, through a vessel 9 containing a perforated basket charged with solid reagent, the solution formed being passed on to the vessel 3 through the pipe 17.
