[Class 92 (ii)] Relates to gas-operated guns in which the passage 3 for the tapped gases extends in the form of a nozzle into a cavity in the front wall of the gas piston 4. According to the invention, a recessed annular dead space 8 is formed in the base of the cavity for the deposit of sediment. In the form shown, the space 8 is formed at the foot of a surface of rotation 10 extending to a point 7. The enlarged front end of the gas cylinder is closed by a plug 2 and a further dead space 13 is thus provided.
