[Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] Granular material, e.g. coal slurry is heated or calcined while passing through a stationary cylinder by gases traversing them as an upper stream, and heat-conducting chains or other flexible structures are supported on spokes on a revolving or oscillating shaft of the cylinder. The chains are flexibly or rigidly attached to the spokes.
