493,752. Grilling - stoves; perforated tube gas - burners. MAIN, Ltd., R. & A., and FORSHAW, A. April 11, 1938, No. 11099. [Classes 75 (i) and 126] In a gas-heated griller, a perforated sheetmetal fret 16, bent to provide a downwardly convex surface, and an apertured cover-plate 19 spaced above the fret, are supported above a burner 10 so that the flames from the latter are directed across the surface of the fret towards its centre. The fret is bent to form a wide V in section. The cover-plate 19 is of cast-iron, and lugs 18 on the plate 19 have inclined faces against which the fret 16 is held. The fret 16 has small apertures 27, and a central row of large apertures 28. The upper plate 19 has slots 25. Downwardly extending feet 20 on the plate 19 rest in sockets 21 on lugs 15 on the burner. The burner 10 is U-shaped, with slightly inclined nozzles 26 arranged in groups in the limbs on opposite sides of the fret. Each arm of the burner tube tapers internally towards its free end. The cross-passage 11 of the U-shaped burner communicates with a mixing chamber 12, and a projection 14 on one side of the connecting port 13 equalizes the flow of gas to each arm.
