Abstract

493,679. Wireless signalling. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1671. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] A radio diversity transmitting system comprises a plurality of spaced antennae, the transmission of each being reduced substantially to zero at such a frequency and phase relationship that at any given period only one antenna is substantially energized. As shown, the two spaced antennae 1, 2, are supplied from a common R.F. source 3 through a signal keyed or modulated amplifier 4 and further modulators 5, 6 respectively supplied in opposite phase with the carrier suppressing voltages from a common source 14 which, if speech signals are being transmitted, is of a frequency higher than the highest audio frequency to be transmitted. In a modification three antennae are controlled by a three-phase controlling source, Fig. 3 (not shown). The controlling frequency may be different for each antenna.
