Abstract

[Also in Division G4] In a local communications system signals from a central station comprising a microphone 11 and an amplifier 12 are transmitted inductively or by radio to portable stations 14 having low power radio transmitters 16, which may operate on 161 Mc/s., for return signals. Alternatively, the central station may employ an ultrasonic transmitter. A plurality of fixed receiving aerials 20 is provided, each of which is associated with an R.F. amplifier 21, from which signals at the transmitter 16 frequency are fed back to the central station over a line or lines 22. Each R.F. amplifier 21 may contain a squelch circuit, when a common line 22 may be used, or the squelch circuits may be located at the central station and a separate line 22 be provided for each R.F. amplifier 21.
