Abstract

493,571. Wall and ceiling surfacing; lathing. GYPROC PRODUCTS, Ltd., and WRIGHT, G. C. July 12, 1937, No. 19321. [Class 20 (iv)] Supporting means for the panel boards f forming a wall or ceiling surface comprises main beams b carried from the wall or ceiling structure, members d of H-cross-section having a hollow web d<2>, and hangers e which engage one flange of a main beam b, pass through slots d<1> in the inner flange of the member d, and are disposed in a twisted condition in the said hollow web d with their outer ends e<2>, which are of T-shape, in engagement with the outer portions of the members d. The members b are of channel- or H-cross-section, and the members d, which are adapted to engage the boards f, are preferably bent from sheet metal so as to provide the hollow web d<2> which is open at the outer end and closed, apart from the slots d<1>, at the inner end. The slots d<1> are of such a size as to permit the insertion into the web of the twisted stem e<1> and T-end e2 of the hanger e, and the spacing of the walls of the web d<2> is such as just to house the twisted stem e<1> of the hanger. After insertion of the twisted hanger into the member d, the stem e<1> is further twisted through 90‹ so that the T-end e<2> extends across the member d. The main beam b is carried by a metal device a which is formed with a closed loop at its lower end to receive the beam b, and a key-plate c is threaded over the upper end of the device and is adapted to tighten the grip of the loop on the member b. The upper end of the device a is nailed to a ceiling rafter. The flanges of the member d are provided with a series of bent loops d<3> adapted to form supports for wires g which are threaded through the loops d<3> and serve to support plaster applied to the boards f.
