Abstract

493,565. Wireless receiving - sets. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and STAFFORD, L. J. May 5, 1937, No. 12853. [Class 40 (v)] In a tuning device for a wireless receiver, the muting switch is operated by the ordinary rotation of the tuning control and is then put out of action by reverse movement of the control. A projecting arm 1 is attached to the control shaft 2 by a collar 3 which has a slipping fit on the shaft 2. When the tuning shaft 2 is rotated, the arm 1 is brought into contact with the stop 4 and this contact constitutes the muting switch. When the tuning indicator shows that the receiver has been tuned to a position slightly beyond the desired station, the receiver is then accurately tuned by reversing the control motion. The contact 1, 4 is thus broken and the muting is removed. The switch can be rendered inoperative by sliding the shaft 2 axially. The invention may be applied to the multi-speed tuning drive described in Specification 491,446, [Group XXXVI].
