[Class 37] [Also in Group XL] In a wireless receiver having mechanical press-button tuning, the final setting of the tuning shaft is accurately determined by secondary locating means, automatically brought into operation by mechanical means before the operating member reaches the end of its travel. Thus in Fig. 1, the member 3, actuated by the press-button 10, carries a pin 8 engaging a heart-shaped internal cam in a disc 2 secured to the tuning spindle 1. The final locating means is a narrow slot 14 into which the pin 8 drops to determine exactly the setting of shaft 1. The cam may be engaged by a roller, mounted on the pin 8, until close to the slot 14 where the cam has a stepped portion so that the roller rides clear and the pin 8 itself completes the final positioning. In the modification of Fig. 4 the hinged member 3 actuates the uppermost of two sliding racks 18, 19 engaging a pinion 17 on the tuning shaft 1, the positioning being completed when 3 engages both members 20 and 21. Just before this point is reached, lever 3 rotates lever 23 to engage 25 with the slot 26 in member 27 which is integral with the pinion 17. The final position of shaft 1 is thereby accurately determined. In all cases, operation of a press-button operates the wave range switch to the corresponding waveband, if such band is not already switched in, by means of projections on the press-button shafts, engaging one or other side of a rectangular frame rotatably mounted and coupled to the wave-range switch spindle, Fig. 5 (not shown). The Provisional Specification describes also a push-button control in which the lever operated by the button is coupled to the tuning shaft by a pair of cords, two ends being secured to the lever and two to one point on the periphery of the spindle.
