511,309. Adjusting wireless apparatus. SOFFIETTI, G., and RICCHIARDI, P. C. April 30, 1938, No. 12956. Convention date, Jan. 25. [Class 37] In a press-button tuning device, the rectilinearly slidable keys or the like 5, each carry two independently adjustable tappet rods 6<1>, 6<11>, adapted to co-operate with respective sliding plates 4<1>, 4<11>, secured to opposite stretches of two endless bands or cords 3<1> passing round pulleys 2 on the tuning shaft 1. Normally, the tappet rods are clear of the paths of the plates so that the usual manual tuning control may function. When a key is depressed, however, one of the rods 6<1>, 6<11>, thereof, engages and moves backwardly the corresponding plate 4<1>, 4<11>, the tuning shaft 1 being rotated and the other plate advanced by the cord 3<1> until stopped by the second rod 6<1> or 6<11> in the tuning position. Depression of a key effects the return of any previously operated key unless a spring is provided to effect such return automatically immediately upon release. The operative edges of the plates 4<1>, 4<11>, may diverge as shown in chain lines, and the plates may operate the tuning shaft through other means, e.g. a rack.
