Abstract

595,226. Keyboard switches. BOOTH, E. R., and MARKS, S. June 23, 1945, Nos. 16072 and 27585. [Class 38(v)] A push-button switch for station-changing on a radio receiver comprises a number of push rods E slidably carried by two discs A, B, spaced apart by insulating members D, and a third coaxial disc K adapted for slight rotation against a spring by any push rod, thereby releasing any previously actuated push rod. Each rod E is biassed to the right by a spring G and has a cam M and a notch N at its free end which serve respectively to rotate the disc K and to latch the push rod as the disc K is returned by its spring. Contacts d<1> on each member D are engaged by contacts F on the co-operating rod E. The members D may be arranged in two banks as shown, separated by a screen D<1>. A switch actuated by the partial rotation of the disc K may momentarily silence a loudspeaker during switching. The Provisional Specifications refer to a modification wherein the contacts are located beyond the second disc B, which then forms a screen.
