Abstract

[Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XL] In a radio receiver having press-button motor tuning and manual tuning, the motor circuit is opened automatically during manual tuning. In the arrangement shown, M and L are two pushbuttons which energize motor 1 from the supply transformer 4 over a split contact device 7, 8, 9, of known kind which arrests the motor at the position of the tuning shaft corresponding to the required station. With this arrangement, if a button is left depressed and the operator turns the tuning knob by hand, the motor is again energized and must be overcome by the manual control. The present invention avoids this by providing that any push-button depressed (as shown at 6) first energizes the motor momentarily to cause a holding contact 5 to be closed by the motor armature, and then the contact 6 breaks so that the motor runs until its circuit is interrupted by 7 and the contacts 5 then reopen. Manual operation of 'the tuning element can no longer energize the motor, as contacts 5 and 6 are both open. The latter contact is energized by the hinged latch-bar on the pressbutton frame.
