Abstract

507,305. Electric control systems. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37459. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1937. [Class 40 (i)] In a motor - controlled tuning system for wireless receivers of the type wherein the position of the tuning device is controlled by profiled discs corresponding to the different stations and adapted to control switches for arresting the motor in different positions, each disc controls two switches, one or other of which is operated to drive the motor in opposite directions and both are operated to stop the motor when the tuning device is positioned correctly. Fig. 2 shows the circuit arrangement corresppnding to one station disc 2. The disc has two cam surfaces 3, 4 which co-operate with a feeler 5 on a spring contact 13. When the surface 4 engages the feeler 5, contacts 13, 14 are closed so that upon depression of the station key 9 the exciting winding 11 of the motor is energized to drive the disc 2 clockwise until when the feeler 5 is released by the step 12, contacts 14, 15 are closed before contacts 13, 14 are opened and the fields 10, 11 are simultaneously energized and thereby neutralized to stop the motor. Similar operations occur in the anticlockwise direction upon operation of the key G when the feeler 15 engages the surface 3. One or more choking coils 16 are provided to prevent short-circuiting of the motor in its stopping position. In a modification, the switches 13, 14, 15 operate relays which control the exciting windings of the motor.
