Abstract
493,086. Luminescent screens. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JENKINS, H. C. April 8, 1937, No. 10025. [Class 98 (i)] In a method of manufacturing a luminescent screen the binder consists substantially of a non-viscous solution of one or more inorganic salts of the alkali metals, which salts are not decomposed when heated to a temperature of 500‹ C. during the dispersion or consolidation of the binder. Sodium or potassium carbonate or sulphate have proved satisfactory. In an example, a bulb is wetted with a 10 per cent aqueous solution of sodium carbonate Na2CO3 10H2O, drained for four minutes, the luminescent material sprayed on, and the bulb then heated at 350‹ C. for five minutes. Specifications 352,473, [Group XL], 431,404, and 463,642 are referred to.
