Abstract
493,033. Crucibles. HALL, I. April 30, 1938, No. 12941. [Class 82 (i)] A crucible particularly for use in gas or oil fired furnaces comprises an inner container of corrosion-resistant steel, cast iron, or other metal and an outer casing of refractory material. The outer casing may surround the whole of the inner container or it may be in the form of an open-ended sleeve surrounding all or part of the sides of the container. In other forms, the inner container 5 may have a thickened rim 6, Fig. 1, which protects the top of the casing 8, or it may be formed with a shoulder 12, Fig. 4. The inner container may have a pouring spout and lifting hooks.
