Abstract
157,564. Batty, G. Oct. 22, 1919. Moulds; casting processes.-Ingot moulds, arranged in a. cluster, are filled by pouring metal into the central mould g, Fig. 1 from which it flows though channelled bricks c arranged in grooves in a metal base a into the other moulds h, the metal in the central mould being kept molten at the top to avoid piping &c. by a heated header l, while that in the outer moulds is treated similarly or chilled by adjustable cast iron or like stoppers n. Fig. 3. A wearing- block d of metal similar to that being cast is inserted below the adjoining ends of the bricks c.
