Abstract

492,962. Vehicle lamps. DAY, F. C. R., and BRIGGS, R. H. March 3, 1938, No. 6382/37. [Class 75 (iv)] A lamp adapted to be mounted low down on the front of a vehicle, e.g. just above the bumpers, comprises a horizontal elongated trough-shaped reflector of parabolic crosssection within which are mounted electric lamp bulbs 1 each having a supplementary cup-shaped reflector 19, a forwardly projecting hood 3a being provided on the front of the lamp casing to prevent emission of light in an upward direction. An auxiliary bulb 10, for use when a forwardly and upwardly directed beam is required, is mounted in a reflector 9 above the main reflector 8, the entire lamp being enclosed in a casing consisting of three sections 3, 3a, 3b hinged together at 5, 5 and held in the closed position by a readily disengageable fastening.
