Abstract
492,820. Photographic cameras with polarizing screens. ZEISS IKON AKT.- GES. April 9, 1937, No. 10196. Convention date, April 23, 1936. [Class 98 (i)] One or more screens are mounted on or in the camera so that any screen is movable either into a position in front of the camera objective, or into a position in which the object can be observed through it, without altering its direction of transmission relative to the object. In one form, Fig. 1, a screen 4 is mounted in a holder 5 angularly adjustable in an arm 3 pivoted to the camera on an axis 2 so that it may be swung from the dotted-line observation position, in which the screen is angularly adjusted to the desired setting, to the full-line taking position in front of the objective 6. In a modification, the screen holder 5 is rotatably mounted in a carrier which slides into the camera from an outside observation position to a taking position behind the objective. In a further modification, Fig. 6, a disc 15 carrying two or more screens, each set with its direction of transmission at a different angle to the line joining its centre to the centre of the disc, is pivoted inside the camera, so that, after choosing the most suitable screen by observation through the finder 21, the disc may be given a 180‹ turn by the knob 20 to bring this screen into the taking position behind the aperture 14. Colour filters may be associated with the polarizing screens. Specification 485,802 is referred to.
