Abstract

437,945. Photographic lens fittings and mounts. BILLING, N. P., 6, Lower Regent Street, London. April 6, 1934, No. 10519. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] A tubular lens turret constituting the front of a photographic camera is collapsable wholly or mainly into the camera body. As shown to the front of a rectangular camera casing 1 having in its upper wall an aperture 2 is secured a plate 3 integral with which is a drum 11 having an aperture 12 corresponding to the aperture 2, the apertures 2 and 12 being used for reflex viewing. Threaded into an aperture in the plate 3 is a tubular member 5, and threaded into member 5 is a tubular member 6. Pins 14 secured to the members 6 engage a groove in a ring 9 to hold the ring 9 against the flange 13 of the member 6. Threaded into the ring 9 is a tubular member 7. Relative movement between members 6 and 7 is prevented by co-operation of a key on the member 6 with a keyway or the member 7. Rotation of the ring 9 effects focusing. In the member 7 are two coaxial cylindrical blocks 19, 20 and in front of block 19 is a cover plate 21. Each block has four apertures 22-25 in each of which is secured a lens element. Between the blocks is a rotatable disc 26 containing a series of different lens stops 27 and integral with a sleeve 34. Behind block 20 is a rotatable disc 28 bearing colour filters 29 and with one blank aperture 30, and integral with a sleeve 31 rotatable on a spindle 32 extending from the back plate 33. The back and front plates 33, 21 are held together by a stud 35 the head 41 of which is connected by a grub screw to the plate 21 so that the plates 21, 33 and the spindle 32 can be rotated as a whole relative to member 7. The assembly is located in the desired positions by engagement of a plunger in block 19 with recesses in plate 21. Sleeves 31, 34 have manipulating arms 37 having pins engaging locating holes in plate 21. The lenses are located in operative position by engagement of detents 47 on the member 6 with appropriate recesses on the member 5. The back and front plates 33, 21 each have a single aperture 43, 42. The camera may have a slide 123 which is secured to the support. In a modification the carriers for the front and rear lens elements may be relatively angularly adjustable so that different lens combinations may be obtained.
