Abstract
492,804. Screw propellers. HUTH, F. May 30, 1938, No. 16130. [Class 114] The securing pins of metal sheaths applied to the leading edge of screw propeller blades are soldered to the inner face of the sheath before attachment to the blade. Pins 5 have their heads 6 soldered to a metal sheath 3 before it is attached to the blade 1. The sheath may be flush nested into a wider strip 2 of cellulose material itself flush nested on the blade. The pins 5 may carry a smaller metal sheath 4 and the space 7 between the two sheaths be filled with solder or colophony. For ease in assembly, the pins 11 may have conical ends 14 which pass through holes 13 in the sheath 9 and have also collars 15; a solder 16 being employed to hold the pin to the sheath and close or seal the opening 13. The pin is then cut flush with sheath. The pin may have a ribbed surface 12.
