Abstract
492,542. Heating water. ANDERSON, T. A. May 28, 1937, No. 14801. Convention date, June 3, 1936. [Class 64 (i)] A casing M contains a float-controlled cold water tank C feeding water to a heating cylinder A from which heated water overflows on expansion through an inspection pipe G into a storage cylinder B. The cylinder A is assembled externally of the cylinder B and has apertures A<1>, A<3> for connection to a domestic hot water boiler, or a copper sheathed coil electric heating element J is inserted at A<1>. The float D for the tank C is adjustable, and comprises a hollow copper truncated prism D<1> attached to a lever arm D<2> by spring-pressed prongs F, the distance between the float D<1> and arm D<2> being controlled by wing-nuts on the prongs. The cylinder B may be corrugated, has outlets B<1>, B<2>, and has an internal float connected by a fine brass cord to an external indicator weight P. The casing M has a removable cover H and external lagging L with a removable panel N to give access to the cylinder A. Asbestos plates O are placed between the tanks.
