Abstract

492,189. Electromagnetic switches. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., and SHERLOCK, J. E. March 17, 1937, No. 7842. [Class 38 (v)] One or more magnetic bars 3 are adapted to be attracted by an electromagnet 4 intc bridging engagement with twc semicircular fixed contacts 2 arranged at the ends of a sealed container 1. The bars 3 may be pulled back intc their original position by a per. manent or electromagnet 5. To reclose the switch the magnet 5 may be de-energized or moved away from the container 1. Or the magnet 4 may be sufficiently strong to overcome the action of the magnet 5. The container may be exhausted or filled with a gas such as hydrogen.
