Abstract

491,904. Oil cartons. DOBECKMUN CO. Aug. 3, 1937, No. 21402. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1936. [Class 66] The bodies of cardboard, strawboard or like containers for oil, formed preferably of two or more spirally wound layers 1, Fig. 5, are provided with an oil-proof lining 2 of regenerated cellulose or similar material attached, for instance by thermoplastic cement, to a thin paper backing 3 which is in turn adhesively attached to the body layers, the composite lining also being spirally wound. One marginal edge of the cellulose lining overlaps the backing and is turned over and attached to the reverse side at 4, the turned-over portion being secured to the under-lying cellulose surface 2 either by adhesive or by softening and uniting the surfaces by means of zinc chloride. Channelled metal end discs 6, Fig. 3, provided with annular supporting ribs 14 are crimped on to the ends of the body.
