Abstract
490,973. Moulding and packing pulverulent material. TOMKINS, A. B. (Offenen Handelsges. W. Busse und J. Perl & Co.) Oct. 1, 1937, No. 26672. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] In a machine for compressing dry, pulverulent material, such as into powder boxes 12, a plunger 4 or other confining face of the pressure chamber is formed by spaced perforated members comprising wire mesh 5 and a perforated plate 6 serving to reinforce the wire mesh when deflected. The perforated members permit escape of air during pressing and may be situated adjacent the upper and under surfaces of the powder block. There may be more than one pressing plunger. The plunger may comprise a chamber 8 closed at the top with a detachable apertured plate 9. The powder is fed into a guide casing 10 through which the plunger works. The boxes 12 or other containers may be mounted on a rotary table 1. The plunger shaft may be spring-controlled and lever-actuated. The powder box may have a resilient bottom 14 and a lid 15.
