[Class 94(i)] A machine for opening and squaring the bottom of a bag comprises a set of four relatively-movable fingers, means to move the fingers into a position in which their ends are positioned at the corners of a rectangle smaller than that formed by the bottom of the bag when fully squared, means to move the fingers into the bag to such an extent that only sufficient bag material will lie beyond the ends of the fingers to provide the fully squared bottom and means for moving the fingers so that their ends will be positioned at the corners of the bag and will expand the latter until the bag is fully squared and the bottom lies substantially within the plane of the fingers. The subject-matter of this Specification is identical with that described in Specification 652,371 but the claims differ.
