490,935. Tool handles. DICKIE, JUN., W. B., and WILLIAMSON, F. E. Jan. 23, 1937, No. 2052. [Class 61 (i)] [Also in Groups XV and VI] Shafts for tools are made of non-metallic material reinforced by twisted metal rods, or by a sheath of metal deposited electrolytically or by spraying. Suitable non-metallic materials are cellulosic substances or asbestos mixed with paints or gums or other adhesives, caoutchouc and sulphur with fillers, caoutchouc mixed with glue or resin, synthetic resins, paper cloth and the like impregnated with such resins, ebonite, plastic wood. A hollow part A is provided to act as a grip and may be reinforced by the untwisted rods. According to the Provisional Specification, this part may be a separate metallic or non-metallic tube fitted on to the solid shaft ; also the abovementioned metal sheath may be a tube.
