Abstract
490,156. House shoes or slippers. VEREINIGTE FRANKISCHE SCHUHFABRIKEN AKT.-GES. May 31, 1937, No. 15055. Convention date, Feb. 27. [Class 17 (ii)] An upper a for a house shoe or slipper comprising an outer layer b of velvet, silk or thin leather, a lining d, and an intermediate filling c is secured wrong side out, as in Fig. 1, by a seam of stitches o to a pliable outer sole comprising a layer g of soft rubber with a layer h of wool dust blown on. An edge binding thread i is attached by a chain seam k, to the edge m of the portion n of the upper. The shoe is then turned right side out as in Fig. 3 and a stiff cardboard sole r is inserted in the sole, as shown, and secured by paste s to the sole layer g. The opposing portions of the binding thread i in the shank portion of the shoe are drawn together by a binding-in string u, Fig. 4, which is arranged zigzag as shown, and a sock v is inserted in the shoe and secured to the turned-in margins of the upper material. A heel wedge w. Fig. 5, may be inserted in the heel end of the shoe, a wedge piece x of the same material as the upper a being inserted between the upper a and the sole to enclose it. A separate binding thread i<2> is applied to the upper edge of the wedge piece x where it is united to the margin n of the upper a.
