489,819. Drying paper webs. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Sept. 24, 1937, No. 25959. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1936. [Class 34 (i)] In apparatus for drying paper webs in intaglio printing, in which the drying air is forced into a long and narrow drying gallery the bottom of which is formed by the web, the mixture of air and vapour leaving the drying gallery is subdivided so that part of it together with an addition of fresh air is led to a fan for return to the drying gallery, the remainder of the mixture being taken directly to a recovery plant or exhaust outlet. In the arrangement shown, drying air is forced by a fan 3 into a narrow gallery 1, the bottom of which is formed by the web 10. The air mixed with vapour flows to a connecting gallery 4 which is subdivided into two parts 6, 7 by means of a control flap 5. One part of the air and vapour flows to a pipe line 8 and is mixed with further fresh air arriving through inlet 14, before it is delivered to the suction side of the fan 3. The other part flows to a pipe line connected to a vapour-removing plant (not shown).
