568,082. Preventing freezing of moisture in gases. RODWAY, J., and CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO., Ltd. Aug. 11, 1943, No. 13008. [Class 55 (ii)] In a means for preventing the freezing of moisture present in the air or gas of a pressure system the gas is passed through a passage from which a proportion passes into a chamber wherein it is mixed with a quantity of the vapour of a liquid of low freezing point and then returned to the main gas or air stream, the passage being so formed that a higher vapour concentration is obtained at low gas flow than at normal flow. As shown gas enters a passage 2 through a tapered portion 7 in which is a port 5 leading to a chamber 3 containing methanol. The gas with a proportion of methanol vapour leaves the chamber 3 through the port 6 and rejoins the main gas stream at the tapered portion 8 which is connected to the suction side of a compressor. The tapered portions and ports are so proportioned that the quantity of gas passing through the chamber depends on the speed of gas flow through the apparatus.
