Abstract

489,499. Escapement mechanism. MICHEL, C. A. Jan. 27, 1937, No. 2402. Convention date, Feb. 3, 1936. [Class 80 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] Two watch movements, one of which is adapted to release the other for operation after a predetermined variable time, are employed to control a panoramic camera. The movements are shown assembled in Fig. 12 and divided in Figs. 1, 2. The timing movement A, Fig. 1, comprises a spring drum 1 driving a balance wheel 6<1> and escapement lever 6 through gears 3, 4, 5, and also driving a gear 7 carrying a cam disc 8 having an incision 8<1>. The disc 8 is engaged by the roller 15<1>, Fig. 2, of an escapement lever 15 of the second watch movement B. While the roller 15<1> engages the outer rim of the disc the movement B is locked by the lever 15, but when the disc 8 has rotated so that the incision 8<1> meets the roller 15<1> the lever 15 is released to allow the watch movement B to operate. The movement B comprises a balance wheel 14 driven from a spring drum 10 through gears 12, 13. The time after which the movement B is released may be varied by adjusting the disc 8 with reference to the roller 15<1> before setting the movement A into motion. The number of exposures depends on the length of the incision 8<1>, and several such incisions may be provided.
