Abstract
488,191. Knitting. GRIMM, H., and KEMPF, O. Dec. 28, 1936, No. 35528. [Class 74 (ii)] A machine for knitting rib fabrics is provided, in either one or both needle beds, with needles mounted to slide one over the other in the same needle trick so as to be operated independently of one another. In forming a fabric upon a machine having one needle a per trick in one bed, and two needles b, c per trick in the other bed, the needles a form a course of loops with the needles b, and then a course of loops with the needles c. In the fabric so formed, the loops formed by the needles b, c are twice as long as those formed by the needles a. In a machine, Fig. 5, in which two needles per trick are provided in both needle beds, the needles d, e may operate together to form a course and the needles f, g may work together; or alternatively, the needles d,f may be operated at the same time to form a course, and thereafter the needles e, g may form their loops. The needle beds may be arranged in line or at an angle to one another.
