Abstract

488,166. High-speed noiseless ballbearing cages. HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 1192. Convention date, May 22, 1937. [Class 12 (i)] A noiseless ball-bearing cage for high-speed usage made of a synthetic resinous product comprises a main part 13a with projecting arms 14 against which an annular end plate 20 is fixed by screws passing through holes 21 and 12. The arms 14 are of length equal to the diameter of the balls to be used, and surfaces 13 and end plate 20 are plane giving two point contact only between them and the balls. Sides 18 and 19 of the arms are slightly less curved than the balls, a slight clearance being given the latter and thus one point contact only with either of the sides. End plate 20, being thin, yields resiliently, without undue friction arising, to any ball that may be slightly too large. Specification 411,359 is referred to.
