487,953. Valve amplifying circuits ; artificial lines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MACFADYEN, K. A. Jan. 12, 1937, No. 945. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In an audio frequency amplifier the driven stage is coupled to a power stage which may pass grid current and may be a single or a push-pull stage by a 1 : 1 transformer having one end of the secondary coupled by a condenser to one end of the primary winding with the remaining ends connected directly or through a condenser. The coupling capacity C is so chosen relatively to the leakage inductance L, to which it is in parallel, that the impedance is less than the impedance connected across the transformer output terminals at all frequencies in the range amplified. The combination LC is preferably resonant at a frequency less or not much greater than the lowest frequency in the range and a resistance may be connected in series with the coupling condenser of value #L/2C. With two coupling condensers C1, C2 series resistances of values #L/4C1 and #L/4C2 may be employed. Specification 450,036 is referred to.
