Abstract

487,829. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 7, 1938, No. 7097. Convention date, March 6. 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A fusible conductor for an electric cut-out comprises one or more elements of a metal having a high melting point coated with a metal having a low melting point, the arrangement being such that the metal having the low melting point is distributed throughout the whole cross-section of the conductor. Fig. 1 shows a cross-section of a conductor consisting of thin wires, coated and twisted together. In Fig. 2, thin walled tubes are coated inside and outside and are slipped over each other. Fig. 3 shows thin plates coated and stacked to form a conductor. The stack of plates may be rolled or pressed to form a circular cross-section. Fig. 4 shows a conductor formed by coiling a coated strip of sheet metal.
