487,582. Stuffing - box substitutes; piston packing. BROWN, F. V. April 22, 1937, No. 34894. Divided out of 481,128, [Group XXIX]. [Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v)] Packing for the spindle 3 of a cock comprises one or more conical rubber &c. rings 1, each inserted in a groove 2 in the spindle, the groove being of slightly less conicity than the ring and of slightly greater width. The central hole through the packing may be cylindrical, or conical as shown. The outer periphery has the edge 4 at the pressure side projecting beyond the groove, the other edge being within the groove. Specification 481,128 is referred to.
