Abstract

487,456. Insulators. POWELL, T., and POWELL, W. J. May 31, 1937, No. 15019. [Class 36] The insulator body 1 is provided with a slot 2 and lug 5 for the sidewise insertion of the conductor 3. A metal clamping member 6 is located in the slot and a bolt 7 passes through the lug 5 with a direct thrust upon the clamping member forcing it against the conductor. The member 6 may be a rectilinear bar set up edgewise in the slot and preferably having a groove on one side to seat the conductor and a recess on the other side to receive the bolt end. The insulator may be pierced with a vertical hole 10 for receiving a bolt for securing to a post.
