[Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XL] A braking device for arresting further movement of the tuning control of a radio receiver when a desired station is exactly tuned in, comprises a ring 3 of magnetic material secured to a resilient disc 10 which is mounted on the tuning shaft 2. When the receiver is exactly tuned to a desired signal, the electromagnet 5 is energized, attracts ring 3 and further movement of 2 is prevented. Lateral flexure of the disc 10 is permitted by the disposition of concentric rings 7, 8. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the electromagnet acts on an endless band of magnetic ribbon running on pulleys, one of which is driven by the tuning shaft.
