Abstract

622,158. Adjusting radio apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1947, No. 4819. Convention date, March 6, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] Continuous and preset tuning in a radio receiver are provided alternatively using a single control knob, the electrical and mechanical change-over being effected by the wave-range switch. As shown in Fig. 2, the shaft 49 of the wave-range switch is provided with an arm 51, which in one position exerts a tension on the Bowden wire 42 controlling the arm 33, Fig. 1, and through the plate spring 35 moves the slidable member 15, which on rotation of the tuning knob engages a slot with a pin 11 driving the pre-set tuning switch 1. In the position for continuous tuning the tension on the Bowden wire is released, causing discs 23 and 25 to engage and the pulley 21 to be driven. A pointer 53 is attached to the knob to indicate the stations which may be selected. Alternatively the clutch for the pre-set tuning switch may have a number of slots or teeth, necessitating the coupling of the pointer to shaft 5.
