Abstract

A neutral or slightly acid, non-corrosive adhesive comprises 1 or more parts of glue to 4 parts of other organic gel-forming substances, which substances will not sediment after stirring up the adhesive with water and will increase the viscosity of the glue solution. The added substance may be starch converted into soluble form by means of alkali and then neutralized. The materials may be mixed in solution and then dried, or may be mixed dry. To produce a cold adhesive, liquefying substances such as potassium thiocyanate, sulphonic acids or their salts, or thiourea or other urea derivatives may be added.
