Abstract
Concrete is rendered porous by the addition or formation during mixing of a foam made from a solution of an artificial resin of the resol type, preferably a phenol aldehyde. The amount of water employed is the minimum being that necessary for producing the foam, or for rendering the mix plastic, whichever is the greater. In an example, one part of phenol aldehyde dissolved in an equal part of a 10 per cent solution of caustic soda is made into a foam with 100 parts of water by beating, the introduction of gas under pressure, or by the injection of a jet of water, and this is added to the dry mixture of cement and sand or the like.
