Abstract

487,162. Valve modulating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and STRONG, C. E. Dec. 15, 1936, No. 34438. [Class 40 (v)] In order to increase the efficiency of a modulated carrier frequency amplifier in a radio transmitter, the carrier amplitude is varied inversely as the mean amplitude of modulation. As shown, the push-pull amplifier HFA fed from the modulating stage MA has a fixed source of grid bias which is opposed by " syllablefrequency " voltages derived from the modulating source LF through transformer T2 rectifier system R and filter F, and which regulate the carrier amplitude transmitted by the amplifier HFA in the stated manner.
