486,721. Railway wagon bodies. FRANCOIS, E., and ROY, E. Oct. 16, 1937, No. 28195. Convention date, March 12. [Class 103 (iv)] The body of a railway truck for use in mines and and for other purposes comprises a bottom member 2, which is subject to most wear, of stainless or non-oxidizable steel or other material capable of resisting corrosion, and side and end plates 4, 3 produced from iron or steel plates, the whole being mounted on an underframe or chassis 1 of cast metal. As shown, the bottom 2 is of curved shape with shallow end portions 9, and is united to the sides 4 and ends 3 by welding and /or riveting, a common line or lines of rivets 10 or welding being employed to unite the bottom, sides, and chassis.
