[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 8, 1937.] [Class 56] Relates to the method of producing glass foam in which there is mixed with the glass substances, such as zinc, which volatilize at the softening temperature of the glass and solidify, when the glass is cooled, to form evacuated bubbles in the mass of glass. According to the present invention, substances are added which react with one another and set free a large amount of heat but do not set free any gases. A suitable substance is that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Thermit."
